As the digital landscape continues to evolve, new platforms and tools are emerging to meet the needs of users. One such platform is Bluesky, an alternative to Twitter/X, which is steadily gaining traction with over 3 million users. The developer community has embraced Bluesky, creating tools to enhance the user experience. One such tool is deck.blue, a Bluesky-flavored version of Twitter’s beloved TweetDeck.
Deck.blue allows Bluesky users to view posts in a column-based format, similar to TweetDeck. Users can view their home timeline, notifications, likes, lists, or even custom feeds. The tool also supports multiple accounts and post scheduling, making it a versatile tool for managing social media activity.
The deck.blue app was built by Gildásio Filho, a São Paulo, Brazil-based software engineer. Filho was inspired to create deck.blue after he was locked out of TweetDeck when it became a paid service. He surveyed the landscape of Twitter alternatives and found that none of the options available to Bluesky users mirrored the TweetDeck experience he was used to.
Since its launch, deck.blue has been quick to add new features as Bluesky makes them available. This includes the launch of hashtags, support for lists, and a scheduling feature. Deck.blue was among the first third-party apps to add support for hashtags, leading to a post about the feature going viral on Bluesky.
Deck.blue is now looking to generate income to support the project. On Patreon, users can support the app at rates of anywhere from $2 to $7 per month, undercutting TweetDeck’s subscription prices.
As Bluesky continues to grow, tools like deck.blue will become increasingly important for users looking to optimize their social media experience. Filho is betting on a future where Bluesky flourishes, and with tools like deck.blue, it’s easy to see why.
